CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

Ages 5-12

This year we have a Children's Program for children ages 5-12 on Saturday July 26th. This program will run concurrently with the Adult/Teen/and Children's program during the day on Saturday, and is included in the conference registration fee.

This year the Children's Program will be coordinated by young adults in the Totus Tuus ministry.Totus Tuus, which is Latin for “all for you” and is Pope John Paul II’s motto, was started in 1988 in Wichita, Kan., by Father Bernard Gorges, a priest of the Diocese of Wichita.  Named after a hymn to the Virgin Mary that was composed in 1987 for the Pope’s third visit to his homeland, the organization sends groups of college age young men and women to work with children in first through eighth grades.

Each team focuses on five main points: education about the Catholic faith, Marian devotion, catechetical instruction, vocation discernment and fun. The coordinator for this year's program is Joetta Haas, who is responsible for the Office of Family Life's children's summer camps for the Diocese of Rockford. Joetta has assembled an energetic and enthusiastic group of young adults to work with the children.

Finally, the Adult venues each have projection screens set-up so that, if necessary, parents can be "electronically" paged and requested to attend to their child(ren). Communication between the adult venues and children's program is constant and immediate.
